Gingko & Copper Enamel Earrings
These gingko leaves are made from copper enamel. The Enamel is shades of green with a touch robin egg blue near the top.
Every part of these earrings were handmade down to the sterling silver ear post. The leaves were hand-drawn onto copper sheet metal then cut out with a jeweler's saw.
Enamel is glass that has been heated and fused to a copper metal base. Three layers of blue enamel was then fired to the back of the earrings. The front of these earrings were fired with a technique call crackle enamel. This is where four of five different colors/ layers are fired on top of each other. Then the whole piece is then heated for several minutes during which the different colors bubble and move around. This creates a marble type effect. The exact pattern the colors create can not be reproduced thus each earring has a slightly different pattern.
The earrings are 2 1/2” long and 1 1/4" wide. The ear wires are standard 20 gauge and sterling silver.
